COMMERCIAL MANAGER (GENERAL CIVILS) Job Description
One of the busiest contractors in the Middle East at present requires an impressive Commercial Manager to lead their civil engineering projects in Oman. The successful candidate will run a multi national commercial team, implementing procedures and systems to ensure work is carried out to the highest standard.
Projects will include STP, Water Drainage, Pipelines, Dams as well as work on one of Oman’s brand new International airports due to start this year. Oman has seen steady growth recently compared to the “Boom” in the likes of nearby cities such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi. With the government taking a more steady approach to its construction plans, the country should fare well in the current economic climate. Funding for these projects has already been raised before plans were agreed and contracts awarded making these ‘secure’ projects for anyone worried about job security.
Commercial Manager Duties
Your duties will be effectively to run a commercial team(s) on one or more projects depending on size and value. You will be expected to implement systems and procedures as applicable to ensure that achieve in your role. You will have a multi-national workforce to manage, meaning that you will need to be flexible and firm at the same time to get the best out of your staff.
Commercial Manager Experience Required
A degree from a recognised university in Quantity surveying or similar is essential for this role – APPLICATICANTS WITHOUT A DEGREE OR EQUIVILANT PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE.
You will have considerable experience on similar projects for a main contractor.
Previous experience and proven track record of managing a multi national workforce, preferably in the Middle East is desired.
A ‘can do’ attitude towards work is essential.
Being able to implement changes if required and understanding of the local culture and how to do business would be advantageous.
