Reporting to the Project HSE Manager, the Environmental Manager will design, own and implement all aspects of Environmental Management on the project

The main duties of the role are:

Management of the project environmental management plan to comply with company and contract requirements and legislation.

Advising and communicating with the project team on all environmental aspects of the project.

Liaising with statutory authorities, in particular the Environment Agency and local authorities.

Monitoring, reviewing, auditing and reporting on project compliance with the EMS.

Providing regular environmental briefings and updates to the project team, subcontractors and suppliers.

Managing and reporting environmental data for project environmental KPI's.


Requirements
Minimum of HNC/HND in environmental field
Associate member of IEMA.

Responsibilities
The scope of the role includes, but is not limited to, the duties described below:-

Advise and communicate with the project team on all environmental aspects of the project.

Draft, and improve where necessary as well as input to the project Environmental Management System (EMS) to comply with company and contract requirements and legislation.

Prepare Section 61 and other consents with assistance of Construction teams and ensure prompt and timely approval with Consents Manager.

Liaise with third parties as necessary including Local Authorities and EA.

Monitor, review, audit and ensure compliance with EMS by the project team.

Provide regular environmental briefings and updates to project team, subcontractors and suppliers as necessary.

Collate and report environmental data for project environmental KPI's.

Provide detailed analysis in the form of regular written reports for incorporation into Project, Company, JV and Client reports.

Work closely with Consents Manager to ensure synergy between Consents Management and EMS.

Guide, supervise and develop members of immediate team (Environmental Advisor, Environmental Assistant if applicable) while offering wider education to the project team on Environmental Management.


The Individual
Substantial experience in implementing EMS preferably to ISO 14001.

Lead assessor.

Experience of similar role in a major construction/civil engineering/rail project or business.

Main contractor experience preferred.
